Intimate weddings have this magic about them. It’s all about the celebration of the marriage of two people . It’s not so much about the décor, signature cocktails, partying and all those whimsical details (that we all of course love about weddings). But mostly about the spirituality and commitment, the celebration of love and respect and the starting point for a journey as husband and wife. Many couples choose to host a ceremony away from loved ones for all these reasons but also to take the stress away of a huge wedding reception. The wedding of Alberto and Amy is a true example of such a celebration. The couple had already been together for 10 years prior to ‘tying the knot’. As Amy described to us: ‘Alberto has Greek and Hungarian roots. I’m Argentinean and Romanian. Keeping these elements intact in some way, via tradition (especially Sephardic Jewish tradition) was essential.  Getting married in Greece was a symbolic step for us.  It let us connect to the area his family is from and gives us a chance to let Greece be a part of our future together’. After viewing photos of the two Synagogues in Athens the couple decided to hold the ceremony at the Etz Hayyim. The synagogue is located literally in the heart of the Greek capital literally next to the most famous city monuments underneath the Parthenon. As per Jewish tradition 10 men had to attend the ceremony so the wonderful Rabbi invited members of the Jewish community to celebrate with us in what turned out to be a very emotionally touching ceremony. Following the ceremony the couple walked around old city ruins and had a fabulous portrait session.
